Ein weiterer Abkömmling der Berliner Schule elektronischer Musik ist das 1984 gegründete Duo Software aus Peter Mergener und Michael Weisser. "Chip Meditation Part I" ist ihr zweites Album.
Die Musik besteht aus den üblichen Ingredienzen dieser Art von Elektronik: Sequencer-Rhythmus mit ausladenden elektronischen Klangbögen. Auf "Chip Meditation" ist das dabei alles noch eine Spur getragener, "spaciger", auch mal in Richtung Ambient gehend. Insgesamt also weniger "teutonisch". Ein sehr schönes Beispiel ist der zweite Titel, "Self Similarity-Life", der sich aus formlosen Klangflächen zu einem atmosphärisch schwebenden Stück über einem langsamen Sequencer-Muster entwickelt.
Mit Ausnahme des kurzen "Voice-Bit", das lediglich aus einem gesprochenen Text (in Deutsch) besteht, sind alle Stücke instrumental.
Sicherlich bieten Software hier nichts weltbewegend Neues, dennoch ist "Chip Meditation Part I" kein bloßer Abklatsch von Schulze & Co. Wer, wie ich, nie genug von Berliner Klängen bekommen kann, liegt hier goldrichtig.
